University of Maryland Individual Studies Program

Host a Talented, Enthusiastic Intern

If you or your organization would like to host a talented, enthusiastic intern, please contact the Program Director, Dr. Joan Burton, at 301-314-1920 or at jburton1@umd.edu.  We will advertise the opportunity to our IVSP students, and we can also advertise your opportunity to students in UMD's high-powered Federal Semester and Global Semester in Washington, D.C. internship programs (Dr. Burton is also director of these programs). Students seek part-time opportunities during the academic year (10-20 hours or so a week) and may also be available for full-time and part-time opportunities during the summer (late May to late August) and winter term (January). During the academic year the opportunities should be located within the DC metropolitan area.

You may also just send a brief paragraph to Dr. Burton (jburton1@umd.edu) describing the internship opportunity, its location, any preferred skills or qualifications, whether the opportunity is paid or unpaid, and contact information.  Please include whether you'd like to see resumes and/or cover letters from candidates.  We'll then post your internship opportunity to students and they will apply directly to you.

We hope to hear from you soon.  This is a great opportunity to mentor and help shape talented young professionals for the future!
